We’ve been lusting over the collections of Nesrine Brand and her newest one was no exception to her usual « Afro vibes » style.
Officially released on the 16th of February, we were curious to go beyond the visuals of the new collection and discover the core inspiration behind it. Having said that, our team was more than welcomed by the designer to enter – once again – her colorful sanctuary in Le Kram and witness the striking colors of Africa married with different shapes.
Why did you choose “ Chérie Coco “ as the name of this collection?
“Chérie Coco is a word that is very familiar because I use it practically every day as a nickname to people I deeply cherish. Plus, It is very frequently used in Sub-Saharan Africa and I’ve always been working with storytelling. It might be something that is said or done that holds meaning in terms of what I’ve lived.”
“Chérie Coco is obviously a collection that was released in celebration of my 2 year anniversary in February”.
What did you have in mind when creating the collection?
“ I really wanted this collection to be unique. In terms of shapes, I tried to remain authentic but still incorporate what I have done in the past together with new ideas. The color palette of the items ranged from sober to the colors of the African continent.”
“I have worked with Hela Djebbi for 2 items of these collections. Her distinguishable style and love for the collection made us click instantly and want to work together. We also shared this aspect of intermingling in the fabric”

What is your main inspiration behind the collection?
“The authenticity and uniqueness of each piece were important to us but I’ve also found myself looking to accommodate to each body and morphology with this collection. As we know, Tunisian women have different bodies and diverse morphologies. That’s why I tried to make the collection fit not only one but every size possible.”
“In terms of cuts, I tried to stay away from African garment cuts as much as possible. My inspiration meant to follow a modern/casual style as much as possible. Plus, I try to make my collection wearable with every style possible, It is up to you to find how to use the versatility of each piece.”Once again, thank you Nesrine for your time and curtsey of the body confidence warrior @IskraLawrence, we get to use the playful word “ EveryBODY”.
