Away from our best friends’ 10-year emotional throwbacks and our 2009 fashion taste -that we’d rather forget-, the 10-year challenge made it possible to reflect on our evolution.

Although a retrospective of our personal sense of style is very interesting, a look into the case of some of the changes that our national brands have gone through is equally important.

In the context of this viral challenge, we zoom in on the 10-year fashion style evolution of the Tunisian fashion brand Hamadi Abid.

From the times of its initial birth in 1990 up to 2009, Hamadi Abid has gone from the small shop in La Medina, Sfax to grandiose shop openings in Tunis city and its surroundings. With it, its fashion has developed for the better.

2009 was a time that preceded a year of deep remodeling of the styling department of HA. As such, the 2009 collections were not exactly collections that translated hyped-up fashion at the time.

In 2010 and 2011, however, when the 1990’s Aztec and animal prints made their comeback, Hamadi Abid chose to bring back the stripes to mark his new devotion to follow worldwide fashion trends.

Hamadi Abid was also sensible to the color selection of the clothes as 2011 was also the year when the brand brought out fur vests in subdued colors like gray, charcoal, or beige.

Late 2013 and early 2014 were the years where blouses in all shapes and forms –including polka dot blouses- marked winter, spring, and summer collections.

In 2017, the brand chose to move away from its tight-leg workwear pants to Palazzo pants paired with stilettos.

Fast forward to 2018 and to today’s fashion, where we would find from sherpa jackets all the way up to puffy sleeve blouses in a comparatively low price range. Something that we’re really thankful for and quite happy about, is the fact that HA has kept its initial promise to keep its prices budget-friendly.

So keep your eyes peeled, with a good eye and good intentions, you might keep your “not splurging” 2019 resolution intact.
