Fall 2020: The Dress Code
4 min read — Nov 14, 2020
If they were greatly disturbed by the consequences of the covid-19 pandemic, the approaches to recent fashion weeks were nonetheless representative of the trends currently prevailing in the fashion world. Here's a little review "à la maft" of the latest trends of this Fall of 2020.
Satin reflection: Satin, this material is so dear to our hearts. Fluid and silky, it delicately plunges us into a universe of the Roaring Twenties. This season, satin is discrete and is available on long skirts. However, make sure to associate it with a big wool sweater to give it a more casual vibe.
Boss Fall 2020
Fringe Binge: The fringes abandon their wild west side this season and reinvent themselves with city looks. Fringes are longer this year and go until the bottom of the bag, or along with the coat's length to twist its classic ergonomy.
Ruffles: Here is a detail that never ceases to brighten up our fall outfits. In fashion, there are a few small details capable of transforming an outfit: ruffles are one of them. From the discreet to the most extravagant, the ruffles suit all styles. As long as you wear them well. However, strong in volumes, they can indeed compress the silhouette. Small breasts will definitely be delighted with this trend which refines the bust and gives a masterful side to the outfit.
Matrix: Leather is making a huge comeback this season. Between black humor and a show off-attitude, the specter of Keanu Reeves in Matrix 4 haunts the podiums for a gothic revival style of the '90s. From left to right; Miu Miu, Fendi, Paco Rabanne.
Purple: Purple is on all fronts. and it's probably the color we talk about the most this season. Pastel purple, Parma, lilac, mauve, plum, eggplant, or dark purple, always with a daring addition, purple is plural and mixes with everything. You can wear it in red, white or green.
Pale Yellow: Much softer than the other flagship shades of fall 2020, pale yellow tries to impose itself on catwalks, and if we are to believe the variations, this one will go well with sky blue, emerald green, lilac, and brown accessories, but especially not black.
Maxi: With encompassing volumes and assumed checks, this fall's maxi coat features bold volume. Be careful, however, to respect a few rules, this one proving to be much less easy to handle than it seems. It is advisable to combine your XXL coat with a narrow bottom in order to balance the silhouette, as seen in Isabel Marant Fashion show.
Bourgeois: We give ourselves an aristocratic look with the cape; a symbol of heroes and heroines. Enveloping and comforting, it suits exactly all body types. Maxi and comfortable at Isabel Marant, in evening dress at Givenchy, and rider-style at Valentino, the cape is undoubtedly the new fashion reflex to have.
The blazer slipped into pants: Yes, you read that correctly: even if it means that blazer is competing with coats, the blazer is making its place in the foreground. And it's journalists, stylists and fashion bloggers like Zina Charkopliawho let themselves be seduced by this resolutely trendy hype.
